As Moms, we have all heard that “breast is best.” However, no one knows the battle of the breast more than us mammary minded moms. If you have committed to breast feeding your baby, but are starting to worry about your milk production (a common concern among bf moms), there are a few tricks to the trade:
- Drink plenty of fluids!
- Limit your intake of caffeine.
- Bring the baby to your breast as much as possible. Nothing is stronger than when they feed.
- Pump in between feedings. Milk production is based on the concept of supply and demand–the more your body thinks you need–the more it will produce.
- If you have started your period, your milk supply will go down during/around this time. Your body can only do so much–so be mindful and try to increase your water intake, eat a healthy, well balanced diet, and get the proper amount of sleep, exercise, vitamins and nutrients necessary.
